I love it. My cats HATE it. Mar 13, 2010 This thing takes off so much fur it is unbelievable. However, there are pros and cons to this device,
Pros:
- Clears cats of pretty much all shedding fur (if you can get them to sit for a brushing with the furminator long enough).
Cons:
- Tool does not capture said fur very well. Expect a big furry mess wherever you are using the tool. I capture the fur in my hand and roll it up and put it aside in a pile or in a dish when I can.
- My two cats, at least, HATE the way the tool feels on their bodies. I have to chase them around with it and switch between the brush they do like and this one. One stroke with the brush they like (a many-pronged metal brush)to one stroke furminator. They still almost always run off after a few strokes with the furminator and I do try to be gentle with it on them. Once in a while I can get them to relax for the furminator, which is usually when I am cuddling with them in my bed. Since this tool pulls fur out with no capture mechanism it just goes everywhere on my bed. Then I have to defur the BED.
This being said, I am glad I have the tool as it clears way more fur than the standard brush. I just wish they could somehow make it gentler feeling for the cats and figure out some way to keep the fur that is displaced in the brush until I remove it. I would gladly accept a little less efficiency for more comfort for them because then I would be able to get them to enjoy it, thus making it easier for me to use.
So, there is definitely a trade off here.
My cats love being brushed but they HATE the furminator.
I wish they didn't hate it because I love it.
Tip: A few good strokes with the furminator will release a lot of fur which can then be brushed out with another brush if you can time it right!
good stuff Mar 11, 2010 First brush of the cat = a lot of cat hair that won't be on the couch.
good stuff
A superb product Mar 06, 2010 My husband and I are known for going around with cat hair all over our clothes. We have two Maine Coon cats who constantly shed undercoat, and frequent brushing had not helped in the past. The Furminator removes only the fluffy white hair that sheds and flies all over our house, and the cats really enjoy it.FURminator deShedding Tool for Cats, 1.75-Inch Edge
Does the job! Mar 05, 2010 The 'furminator' does a great job at getting hair brushed out quickly. Most of my seven cats don't seem to mind it either which tells me it's not hurting them. Would buy this again.
Love it Love it Love it Mar 04, 2010 Thank god. Finally a tool that really helps with shedding. This product is awesome. This has solved the nightmare shedding we experienced with our dog. She loves to be brushed with it. It really works!
