5Great product  Mar 01, 2010
When I read the reviews for this product I was a little nervous about buying it. Some people said it was hard to assemble, some said it didn't hold up when their dogs were trying to get to the front, but because of the lower price I ordered anyways knowing I might not be getting the best product. I got the barrier within a couple days of ordering it (quick delivery!!), had no problems setting it up, every part of it fit together properly, & my two dogs-a beagle & jack russell terrier-can't get it to budge! I think proper installation is the key, & again I had no problems with it. Fits perfectly into my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Would definitly recommend this to a friend!!

1Poor Quality!  Jan 13, 2010
Not only is this barrier a very poor fit for our Ford Expedition, but the hardware is awful. The height of our cargo area just happens to be too short for the extension and too tall to work without it. The screws are less than half an inch from the ends of the pipes causing it to be practically useless. It wobbles and falls on the dogs constantly, we finally had to wind a bungee cord around it and tie it to the headrests which doesn't seem the least bit safe, but at least it is a temporary fix. Even in a different vehicle I would think that the quality of this barrier would be sub par, all the dog has to do is bump near the base and it will tumble down.

1Pretty much useless  Jan 06, 2010
We tried to use this in our Ford Escape. As other reviewers have said, if you're not handy with "fixes" don't bother. The screws that came with this product to tighten down the bars don't fit. I tried using hose clamps as another user did but my determined dog quickly figured it out and moved the whole unit right out of the way. Also, if you have back seats that are at an angle, you loose a tremendous amount of hatch space because the legs must be moved way out in order to line up straight. Waste of $$$

4Not bad - Does the job!  Dec 20, 2009
I like many of you have read multiple reviews before purchasing this pet barrier. My wife and I are expecting in the next couple of months and therefore needed a solution to secure our lovable Vizsla from jumping around trying to get close to us while we drive.

We actually purchased a much more expensive ($145) barrier but had to return it for missing parts. So we then decided to give this model a try. Before getting into the review here is some context about our vehicle and pet which I noticed seemed to be missing from most reviews and manufacturer websites.

Vehicle:
2010 Toyota Rav4 SUV

Pet:
Vizsla
45lbs
Very active

This review may be premature since we've used it less than 3 weeks, but if there are issues I may return at the 4 month milestone and provide further feedback.

Pros:

1. So far secure
2. No noise
3. Great fit for our vehicle
4. Easy to install

Cons:

1. The solution for securing the horizontal bars height and width will more than likely have to be adjusted over time or be retrofitted with a more secure solution. Some have mentioned they used clamps. Not a bad idea if needed.

Bottom line:

We really like it. Keep in mind we have never used another vehicle barrier so we don't have anything to truly compare and contrast with, but I really believe it would meet most people's needs. It's cheap and easy to put together. It comes down to how the user assembles the barrier and how your dog will react to the barrier. Assembly is easy enough for the non MacGyver/Handyman type. We were quite fortunate in that even though our dog is extremely active and persistent she respects barriers. Because she respects barriers she hasn't tried to tank her way through. However the way I assembled it seems pretty secure with no rattling or road noise. I also feel the visibility in the rear view mirror is sufficient. I was worried a mesh barrier would skew our visibility while driving.

Recommended!

4Not yet perfect  Nov 01, 2009
Minor improvements could make the product much better. It needs larger, better padded and angle adjustable top supports. Auto roofs are not always horizontal to the flooring. Present design does not insure a good top support.
