Will ONLY work with DIY retrofits! But then it works well. Sep 04, 2010 Okay here's the deal. Those that say this product works right out of the box are either lying or just willing to accept some inadequacies. Out of the box it leaks water everywhere, gets grounds in your cup (and the internal workings of the K-cup area of the machine), and the coffee is weak at best even using the smallest cup.
However, thanks to the previous reviewers, you're not at a total loss. Here's what you do:
1. Move the rubber gasket (washer) surrounding the upper needle down to just above the holes on the needle. This stops the leaking.
2. Remove the contents of a used K-Cup (including the filter), cut the top off just below the wider area close to the lip, and cut off the hanging chad from the bottom hole. You'll have to push it back through the bottom from above, then cut it off. This is to make sure it doesn't, over time, cut the mesh of the filter basket.
3. The mesh filter basket fits inside the cut-up K-Cup, and the whole thing goes back into the provided plastic filter holder.
4. Stamp out an indentation in the middle of your grounds. This is just to keep the upper needle clean, and ensure no escaping grains.
The K-Cup retrofit keeps the water from going through to fast, and maintains the strength of your coffee. With a pinky size stamped hole in your grounds (about half way down in depth) the grounds should be level with the top of the mesh. This will make a regular strength cup using the largest "mug" selection.
So, two thumbs way down for keurig for an inferior product. They had to know it just didn't work right when they tested it in the lab. Two thumbs way up for the ingenuity of the reviewers. That equals 3 stars mainly because if you want to use your own grounds, you don't have a better choice.
DO NOT BUY!!! Sep 03, 2010 Do not buy this product. It is garbage. It does not work. The water overflows and doesn't pour properly. I continuously end up with coffee grinds in my cup. I tried an Internet suggestion of covering the basket with a piece of aluminum foil. Still didn't work. Still ended up with coffee grinds in my cup. This is a big waste of money.
K-Cup Reusable Filter Sep 01, 2010 The reusable coffee filter is a way to use up coffee on hand even with a new brewing system. The filter is well-made and simple to use in the Keurig brewer. While it is not as convenient as the K-cups, it does allow me to use the brewer without being limited to K-cups.
Works as advertised--saves $$ Aug 27, 2010 This is a great way to save $$ and still have have the convenience of the Keurig machines.

My First Product returned To Amazon Aug 25, 2010 I won't go into a lot of detail....you've read the pros and cons of this product. Personally, I think it should be off the market - that's how bad I think it is. I tried many approaches using this filter before I gave up on it. Unless you like weak-to-medium strength coffee, don't bother. After many years of purchasing from Amazon, this is the first and only item I have returned for a refund....and I might add, Amazon went above and beyond the call of duty when processing this return. Thumbs up to Amazon, thumbs down to the reusable/(unusable) filter.
