Excellent Response Aug 30, 2010 Last week I posted a negative review about this item because the cover seam was coming out (like a tear). After contacting the company, they said I had 60 days to return, but it had been 62 days when I discovered the problem. After further emails with the company, they not only replaced the Kindle cover, but they sent it expedited shipping so I would have the new one for my vacation. This is my 3rd M-Edge Kindle cover and I'm sold on the product and the company.
Leather Kindle jacket Jul 20, 2010 The leather looks and feels great. We purchased this cover not only to safely hold and store the kindle but for it's attractive look. Unfortuneatly, soon after we put the cover on the kindle was dropped from about 2ft off the ground and Kindle no longer functioned. Thankfully we purchased the warranty and Amazon was great to replace it.
nearly perfect kindle jacket for me Jul 01, 2010 The mocha brown leather is attractive -- smooth but not glossy, with a very subtle leather texture -- and is holding up well after two months of use. I like the ability to use this jacket as an easel to stand the Kindle -- convenient for reading at the table while enjoying a solo meal. Mostly, though, my reading is done with the cover folded over -- held in one hand or two, depending on the situation. This has quickly become at least as comfortable and natural as holding a traditional book, perhaps more so. The ability to integrate the M-Edge reading light is an appreciated feature as well (though the power switch on my light can be a bit finicky -- but that's a separate product review).
Though I'm very happy with this Kindle jacket I've rated it four stars rather than five for some relatively minor cosmetic issues. I'm not a big fan of contrast stitching: I'd have preferred a brown thread that blended with the leather color. Also, the interior of the jacket is lined with a pale gray suede (standard with all color leathers in this line): it looks all right, but again I'd have preferred something that better compliments the mocha leather. Also, though it hasn't happened yet, I can see this light-hued suede lining getting grungy with use, probably well before the leather exterior has become distressed enough to merit replacement. I've read some complaints about the strap obstructing the charging cord: that's true, but I don't really see this as a problem as it's easy enough to undo the strap when charging (especially now that I charge less frequently since reading the recommendation to keep the Kindle between 25-80% charged, rather than topping it off every night).
Minor cosmetic quibbles aside, of all the Kindle cases out there I'm glad I got this one. In combination with an "American Cherry" skin from DecalGirl it not only protects but gives my Kindle an elegant, distinctive look that has garnered many compliments.
Great cover, well made and sturdy Jun 18, 2010 You get what you pay for in this product. It is exceedingly well designed, good looking, and very well made. Good leather, heavy stitching, and some nice features. As one other reviewer mentioned, it does not look out of place in a business setting. I have a very high class briefcase, and the two look like they were designed together. I like the little space to store a business card: this way if I lose the Kindle there is at least an outside chance I may see it again.
I disagree that the product is too heavy. It is a bit heavier that some other cases, but I consider that to be a positive. The case does a great job in protecting the Kindle; light cases don't do that. The long tongue on the closure is a bit of a pain, but a very small detraction.
Excellent convenient jacket - great with the M-Edge light - Makes reading a pleasure! Jun 06, 2010 This is my favorite Kindle jacket/cover. I looked at what seems like 1000's of reviews and products based on my needs which included that it had to be quality, leather or a very good fake, easy to fold back, comfortable for my hands (which are pretty small - I'm only 5 ft 1 inch), and secure for my Flora (that's the name of my Kindle).
The Platform jacket fit all my needs. Very well constructed and the leather is nice and soft. The suede on the inside feels good on my hands too.
At first it was not easy to fold back but over about 2 weeks it softened up enough - and has not left a crease in the top from my folding it over. It is very secure and covers all of Flora. I love, love, love the M-Edge Illuminator Light that goes with the jacket - and it fits in like a dream plus it stays in the jacket -- so so easy to use!
The cover is a little heavy but not so much as so my hands/arms get sore. I often lay it on its side (with the flap folded into the slot so it would stand up if upright by itself) and lay on my side to read. Anyone who does a lot of reading knows the constant shift you go through when reading a real book -- right, left, on your back, lather - rinse - repeat. I don't have to do that anymore on my Flora! Since all I'm doing is clicking its very comfortable. I can place it on its side, on top of a pillow on my stomach, and lay it flat on the table. There aren't any awkward positions.
I love my Flora and she loves her case! Thanks M-Edge!
