5Mastercool MSC52224A Infrared Thermometer  Mar 05, 2010
I recently purchased this 'very affrdable' infrared thermometer to see about the temperature loss I have in our home. I was skeptical of the accuracy but was reassured when I tested next to our digital furnace thermostat... the thermostat read 66 degrees F and the Infrared thermometer read 65.9 degrees F. So I was reassured that the temp reading is accurate at the lower spectrum of the readings. Very easy to use, just point and 'shoot'... and fast too. Will be 'testing' other objects temperatures as time goes by! It does come with batteries and a handy carrying case (cheap plastic but serves the purpose) Make sure to read the instructions... very easy to use. Further testing to be conducted by the 'head chef' in the kitchen...

5exactly what I wanted; excellent for the price  Feb 28, 2010
This seems to be the best value IR thermometer out there -- the Amazon reviews were reassuring and now I can add my enthusiasm to the mix. Sturdy feel and simple operation. I use it for cooking purposes, monitoring oven temperature and hot/cold spots. Makes it very easy to check whether an oven's thermostat is accurate (they often aren't) and to see what quirks in heat distribution there are. Can also use it to check fridge and freezer temps and for leaks around seals, etc.

5better than expected  Feb 24, 2010
For the price, or even more, this was a great buy. Light weight, easy to use and accurate from freezer temps to cooking grills to cooked food. Recomend purchase to anyone.

Great product for finding the cold spots in the house and where you may need to improve insualtion. Verifies that cold drafts are coming in and where you need to zero in on plugging them. Also good to use in the kitchen for checking pan, oven, frig/freezer temps.

5Good working thermometer  Feb 20, 2010
This thermometer works as advertized. It may be low priced but works great for use around the home, even can find cold spots that need sealed in the house as well as a quick check on food in the crock pot. The only thing I think would make it better is to have max cold temp in memory also
