Nice beans Mar 09, 2010 These are wonderful, soft and so fragrant that my kitchen smelled like vanilla for days after I opened this package. I found these beans after paying way too much for a sorry old vanilla bean at the organic market that was so dry, I had to break it up to put in a pot of cream. These beans are so much nicer, very supple and easy to work with. They made an amazing vanilla ice cream.

Sure beats those $4.00 per bean gourmet store prices!
Add to this the fact that they were delivered quickly and sealed well.
I will definitely be ordering these again...... although my figure could do without eating the fabulous french vanilla ice cream I made with these.

Beautiful Beans! Dec 05, 2009 The delivery was prompt and the beans are beautiful. Vanilla extract has gotten so expensive, I decided to make my own. I needed the beans a good time before Xmas and I received them within days after ordering. They are plump and fresh and the nicest Vanilla beans I've ever used. I'm a professional baker and I know my beans. I use a lot!

Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla Beans Nov 28, 2009 These beans are wonderful! When I received the box and opened it, my whole place was scented with vanilla bean (and porcini mushroom--which came in the same package and are also excellent) aroma. As per Cook's Illustrated, the best way to keep them fresh and soft is to wrap each bean individually in plastic wrap, then store them in a ziplock plastic bag in the refrigerator or freezer--either one will keep them fresh for a long time. To make your own vanilla extract, split one bean lengthwise, scrape out the seeds and add them to a one cup jar along with the bean, then add 3/4 cup of HOT vodka (any inexpensive brand will do), let cool, cover, and shake gently every day for a week; then strain if desired and store in a cool, dark place. It will keep indefinitely. This extract is wonderfully fragrant. In their taste tests it beat out their top rated commercial vanilla extract. I can't recommend these beans highly enough! And you can't beat the price compared to what you'd pay in the supermarket for an infinitely inferior, dried out product.
Awesome vanilla beans! Oct 19, 2009 After buying vanilla beans from Penzey's for almost twice as much, and being disappointed in how dry they were, I thought I'd give these a try. I was skeptical but the reviews were good so I placed an order.
They arrived 2 days after I placed my order (with free shipping!). They were super plump and even juicy, which really surprised me. Very nice quality beans at a great price, with fast, FREE shipping--more could you ask for?
