Yes it does work great for Basil!! Feb 11, 2010 I have looked at the Prepara herb saver, and finally bought one three weeks ago. On the outside of the box, it plainly says it can be used to store basil, but to store it in a cool place, NOT in the frig. I have a horrible time with basil turning brown in a couple of days in the frig, so I bought the Prepara. I trimmed the stems a little, dodn't wash the basil, thinking that may make it turn sooner. Put the container in a cool place away from the stove, and almost three weeks later, the basil is still beautiful. I replaced the water once, and trimmed the stems at the same time, and have been using it ever since. IT WORKS GREAT.

saves the herbs! Feb 01, 2010 the only draw back (?) is that the pod will not hold an entire bunch of parsley/cilantro (maybe the bunches are just really big out here?) - i have to divide a bunch of parsley/cilantro into two pods......but the pod definitely works.
It Works Nov 30, 2009 I have kept parsley in this device for two weeks and it still as fresh as when put it in to the container

Exceeded my expectations Oct 25, 2009 I thought this was neat and stuck it on my wedding registry, and now, a couple of months later, it's become one of my favorite items in the kitchen. It does a spectacular job of keeping herbs fresh longer, and keeping them out of the way in the fridge. Because it works so well, I've been buying and using fresh herbs all the time now, which has made me want to buy another one of these. While the size was more than enough for the amount of herbs I *used* to use, at this point, I wish it were larger. That's not quite a product criticism, as I probably wouldn't have purchased or needed a bigger one until I've used this one for a month, but if I had the option right now to buy a bigger one and give my Herb Savor as a gift to a friend, I might do just that (unfortunately, there IS no bigger model!). That's all! Buy this thing! Or two!

does everything it says it does Oct 12, 2009 I love cilantro, but hate the expense. Also, I have tried tirelessly to grow it, but it is very delicate and dies on me over and over. So, I looked for an herb saver, read the reviews and bought this one. It keeps my cilantro fresh for maybe 3 weeks. I always know I have some on hand for my salsa, omelets, sauces or whatever. Maybe the best thing (besides the practicality) about it is that it's beautiful. I enjoy seeing it in the fridge. Adds such an air of class and pays for itself. No lie.
