great for disabled person's use Jun 22, 2010 Bought both this size cup, "Lil Chiller", and the larger, 16 oz cup, "Chiller". The smaller size has a sealing ring that fits securely on the outside of the screw-on lid, above the threads. The threads then screw onto the cup on the inside of the cup. The ring stays on the cup lid very well, even putting it through a dishwasher. The larger cup has a sealing ring that also fits on the lid, but around an inside lip, and it constantly falls off. The lid does not screw into the cup, but twists on the outside of the cup, and does not have threads, but simply little raised horizontal slits for the lid to catch onto. As a result, the larger cup is harder to get sealed and prevent leaks. I got frustrated early on with the larger cups (because of the sealing ring) and quit using them after only a few tries. These smaller cups, though, have been great. I got them for hubby, who is disabled and has a hard time picking up and holding a cup. He constantly knocked them over, dropped them on the floor, etc., spilling liquid everywhere. These cups work well to solve about 85% of that problem... Liquid only leaks from the straw hole and straw if knocked over on its side and the cup is relatively full. We use a tv tray next to hubby's recliner, put the cup on that, and generally he can manage on his own. The smaller size is easier for him to handle, too, as opposed to the larger Chiller cup: the smaller cup has a smaller circumference for gripping, plus the weight of the liquid in the cups is less in the smaller ones. Have put these Lil Chiller cups, lids, and straws through the dishwasher with all the rest of the dishes, all the time, for about the past year, and they have done great (top rack for cup and lid, straw upright in silverware holder, so inside gets cleaned). The outside of the cups gets a little sticky (they cling to the dishwasher rack), and the color has really faded and yellowed, but the cup itself is very serviceable. Get an extra straw or two... one of our got thrown out by accident... plus, it wouldn't hurt to have a nice clean, smooth, and new straw every few months...
